Language Arts: Support of the literature anthology and district anchor texts. writing skills, vocabulary development and spelling strategies is taught using the Houghton Mifflin curriculum, and, for Spelling, the Words Their Way curriculum, with support specifically designed for English as a Second Language learners using Rosetta Stone. Kids may use Houghton Mifflin's Kids Place for online activities to support skills in grammar, editing and more.   Think Central has joined with Houghton-Mifflin to provide skills support in Language Arts, with the Medallions program with the Houghton-Mifflin Practice Book, as well as the HSP Math online access.

Math: Our district just adopted the Pearson enVision California Common Core Math curriculum.  Teachers use the enVision program to teach Common Core mathematics concepts, including Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Numbers and Operations in Base Ten, Numbers and Operations - Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry, at the appropriate grade levels.  For additional support, the past adoption's game area, the HSP Megamath Site has online help with math concepts, practice opportunities and math games.
 

History-Social Science curriculum may all be accessed from home on the Scott Foresman California History-Social Science web site. through the Pearson Online Learning Exchange. Your child's teacher may have assigned work to be done from home on this site. 

State Standards Practice Online: Math, Language Arts, and Science mini-lessons and skills practice are found at Study Island, for classes with accounts. This site provides practice for students on the skills and topics on the state tests. Students for whom the teacher purchased a subsciption have personalized accounts for practicing skills and looking up concepts with an optional (and earned) fun game format.  Like the Social Studies site, your child's teacher may have assigned work to be completed on this site from home.

The Step Up to Writing Program is an organizational tool to assist students in formatting primarily for Expository writing, but also for Narratives.  Students gain in comprehension of Literature as well buy understanding the structure of good writing.  Color codes help students know the functions of the parts of paragraphs, essays, and stories.

Physical Education curriculum adopted by the district is SPARK! PE; students receive 200 minutes of P.E. within a two-week period, emphasizing cooperation, sportsmanship, conditioning, agility, and basic physical and health skills.  Our students' fitness is measured using FitnessGram Physical Fitness Testing.
